a. Answer the following Questions.

Q.1: Who looked after Pip after the death of his parents?

Ans. After the death of his parents, Pip’s elder sister looked after him. She was hard on him.

Q.2: Who was Joe? How did he treat Pip?

Ans. Joe was the husband of Pip’s sister. Despite the hard and strict behavior of Pip’s sister, Joe was kind and warm-hearted. He treated Pip with love and care as if he was his own son.

Q.3: Why did Pip give food and drink to the prisoner?

Ans. Pip gave food and drink to the prisoner because he found him in a difficult and miserable condition. He helped him out of sympathy. 

Q.4: What happened to the prisoner?

Ans. The prisoner was re-arrested by the police and sent to Australia as punishment.

Q.5: Why did the prisoner support Pip?

Ans. The prisoner did never forget the kindness and sympathy of Pip for him. Although he was not a gentleman himself, he supported him because he wanted Pip to have the advantages of education and money to become a successful man.

Q.6: What happened to the prisoner’s wealth after his death?

Ans. After the death of the prisoner in the prison, all his property belonged to the government according to the law because he was sentenced to death at his court trial.

Q.7: Do you know a person who achieved success in his life through hard work?

Ans. Yes, I know many. One of them is DR Abdul Qadir Khan. He is a nuclear scientist in Pakistan. He worked hard and through his hard labor he succeeded in making Pakistan a nuclear state.
